Mounting down to viewmaster

Dr. George A. Themelis wrote within a long message:
->Also, consider writing articles in Stereo World and other stereo
->publications. For example, Ron Beck asked about mounting twin SLR
->stereo pictures in View-Master reels. There is a very detailed
->article in an older issue of "Stereoscopy" (publication of the
->International Stereoscopic Union) which tells you how to slice the
->reel in half, mount the images and glue it back together. Note that
->you can use Realist format stereo pictures too (anything larger than
->VM).
This was in 1982 issue no 20, and was jointly written by Arthur Girling
and myself. I had spent a pleasant afternoon with Arthur messing around
with various things, one of which was this technique to salvage bits of
larger images, that hadn't quite worked out in the original format.
I wrote the text, whilst Arthur drew the excellent diagrams. I have no
idea if back issues are available from the ISU. If not, I guess I have
the right to distribute photocopies for personal use...
It's actually quite easy, and could be worked out by anyone that can
mount conventional slides!
