Re TDC DC

This is perhaps a little of topic but it may have some relevence ,there has
been mention in this topic of the surge which occurs when a bulb is first
switched on. Perhaps it also occurs throughout to some extent with AC or
unsmoothed DC. A lecturer at work has told me about a student I have not
met yet who wishes to demonstrate and measure this surge. So far I have not
come across a method to do this so have been trying to devise one of my own
without success . I cannot display it on a oscilloscope for instance and
have begone to wonder to what extent it realy exists although I always
believed it did. Anyone with any ideas can feel free to contact me of list
as this is off topic.
