Would you mind posting a few comments about the sort of assistance
available, and perhaps some general information about the process of
starting a club...things that work, things that don't, etc?

The past week or so I've discovered an apparently easy way to
locate people interested in stereoscopy: mount two cameras (old
TLRs seem to be quite effective) on a 4 foot piece of angle aluminum
attached to your tripod, and wander around town with it. Judging by
the relative response level, a Realist around your neck is virtually
invisible by comparison. During an early Sunday morning hike on a
wilderness trail this weekend, I met a man who has done stereo from
an airplane; another who drew 3D cartoons when he lived in California,
(and almost--but not quite--published them); a third who has done
stereoscopic video; and a number of others who immediately knew that
the two cameras were for stereo. About a week before I was stopped
on a hike-and-bike trail by some schoolgirls on a photographic field
trip, and had the chance to explain stereo photography to them...and
their instructor. Next time I should take a pen and paper to get
folks signed up for the club mailing list and try to lure them in
to a meeting!

Hey, nobody *told* me Wolfgang would give me $7,000 to spend on
stereo cameras if I came to the convention!!! If I had only known...
