Proper use of Monopod

I was glancing over the last issue of "Shutterbug" and noticed a remark by
Bob Snell that most photographers do not use the monopod properly and are
disappointed by the results. The proper way to use it is at an angle so
the monopod and the photographer's legs form a tripod, according to Bob.
My pictures using the monopod turned out well. I was able to take pinsharp
shots of several seconds exposure by supporting the camera in a rail and
using the monopod. I will install a ball head to allow me to angle the
camera.
Stereo photography favors slow speeds and small apertures so a tripod or
monopod can greatly improve the results.
