"Take One" Proper action.....and yes!
A lot more stereo images is displayed (mentioned in digest 2175) at:
http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/imp/imp.html
It's good to see that as they say at lpl; "have got a lot of feedback to
put up stereo images", but its not a good experience trying to view the
images, since most basic stereo rules have been broken. Now its time for
next step: Tell them how to improve the poorly displayed stereo images.
The Stereo Images displayed lately have far too large parallax errors,
and heavy window violation as the image protruding out of the stereo
window! This is a basic error and should be avoided in public use!
Why?
Basic knowledge is a must in stereo and poor practice is very
unsatisfactory for the brain to perceive. The perception of the stereo
images can be improved a lot. Move the left image more to the left and
the right more towards the right(sideways). This will make the stereo
image recede. Keep it just behind the stereo window and it will be much
more comfortable to enjoy. The excessive parallax is now towards the
horizon and cause less strain on our brains as the size of the images on
the screen is well within (size)limits before this also will be too
serious. The mismatch between the excessive parallax is a relationship
between the near limit and the stereobase of the stereo camera itself.
This part is sort of a build in error as the wide angle lens capture too
much too close.
Looking forward to much more improved displays of the stereoscopic
images!
Regards
Jan Gjessing
