Selling Contemporary Stereo

     Dr. T. wrote a seemingly acerbic response to Bill Walton's posting that
he regretted there were not more contemporary views in the NSA auction.

     If George doesn't wish to auction or sell his images, original or
duplicate, that's certainly his business, perhaps a loss to the world of
stereography... or maybe a blessing! :=) He seemed to be put off by thinking
the print views were 'duplicates' and by the possible motives of the seller.
     In the case of prints, each one is an 'original.' Motives of a seller,
of course, don't matter any more than those of the buyer unless some sort of
fraud is being perpetrated.

     If people will buy or bid on excellent work by Bill or any other good
stereographer, I say excellent... if NSA gets some funding, even better.

     Contemporary slides don't need to be copies if the scene can be
reshot... I'd buy some of the work of today's good transparency
stereographers if it compared to some of the best '50s work. Perhaps even
well done duplicates.
     
     In the same message, George said, "I am also encouraging people to share
their work by joining the Stereoscopic Society of America, PSA folios, Expo
3, local stereo clubs, other public exhanges, private exchanges or just
inviting the neighbors to share the pictures from their last vacation."

     I think auctioning or fixed-price selling is a great way to share... I
don't participate in APEC due to the time/expense involved, but I'm sure I'd
like to own some of the images exchanged.

     Auction it, sell it, hoard it, show it, collect it, shim the shaky table
with it, I don't care... more 3D in the world is great!
