What matters is do the investors have the guts to go for long term gain
or do they go by yesterday's bottom line. Most novice investors and
many seasoned ones go for "what have you done for me lately." And our
industrial performance shows it.

Kodak, has traditionally been an exception, always supporting its
customers long after many competitors would have quit. Maybe that
doesn't appeal to accountants, but then few accountants will admit the
truth, accounting only measures some aspects of business, (the ones
which can be rated in dollars). The classic goodwill, research, and
customer support are examples of categories where there is no dollar
value. And to people like the military, a reputation like Kodak's
doesn't hurt.

Lets pick a famous favourite for "short term" performance, Microsoft.
Do you seriously think that the board of Microsoft thinks giving away
Internet Explorer is good for today's bottom line? I sure hope not.
But they do think it will be good for tomorrows.

Kodak not only supports consumers, but all those weird techies out there
that push photography right to the limits. And when you get that kind
of support ... whatyagonnabuy?

Fuji makes good film. End of story. Can I get detailed data sheets on
the net? Not yet. Can I get tech notes, development strategies, etc.
Nope.

Can I get all that stuff from Kodak, AGFA, Ilford and others. You bet.

Velvia may be neat stuff. Everyone likes its color rendition right out
of the box.

But where are the docs .... please not by snail mail to us poor fools in
outer slobovia!

I wish Kodak, Ilford, AGFA, and some others the best of luck. I can get
enough data from them to leave me confused for the rest of my life.

If you want to foster price cutting at the expense of customer support
and the range of products available, IMO, that is short sighted.
