Still haven't heard from Leroy Barco, Jon Golden, Dalia, the Sells and
others, so I know there's stiil lots to come! Did anyone take the
tour(s)?
OK Bill Davis asked...and ye and he shall receive!!!
Wow what a trip....we had such a blast out on the Penninsula....Simon
Bell and Phyllis Maslin almost made a cult nature 3D photgrapher out of
me......in fact...I was tied up to a huge stake...all these rainforest
3D photographers (well we did run in to Gary Shacker at the Hoh
rainforest..and then later I had dinner with him) were dancing
feverishly around me there, with wild face paint making them resemble
the frogs of Bob Bloomberg's NSA Stereo Theatre show, flashes going off
around me wildly....giant cedar and spruce trees towered overhead 100 to
150 feet...as the sparks licked the branches above, and the heat of the
fire made the branches waver up and down as if they too were caught up
in the moment with the cult group...but no worry of forest fires here
though...too lush and damp.....
The drums were pounding...I was in a dizzy trance thinking that this
reluctant (on my part) intitiation would never allow me to be a kitsch
and roadside archeaology 3D photographer again...no more diners...no
more trains....no more transistor radios...no more time lapse light
drawings...oh my gggggoddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
....now I could see it clearly....big manly-man RBT X2 and X3 cameras
surrounded me as if I had sold them all (nope....many were pre-Atlanta
95!)....the drums were getting louuder and faster, someone screamed
bloddy horror as if they were at stereo theatre and were beheaded by a
poorly mounted slide.....MY HEART WAS POUNDING, POUNDING,POUNDING...
WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN...
....I WOKE UP from big time REM sleep and realized that Simon and
Phyllis were listening to the drum solo fromthe late Harry Neilsen's (
poor Harry) "Jump in to the Fire" loudly, on the car radio...and we were
pulling in to Port Angeles...early evening.....parish blue skies...and
lllllots of great neon signs, tacky whacky hotels......ahhhhh I was back
....and at peace with myself...as I picked pieces of cedar bark and
spruce needles out of my hair.....
Dont get me wrong.....the Hoh Rainforest and the rugged beaches of the
Penninsula were beyond beleif and beauty...and I had such a great time
out there shooting 3D with two great 3D photographers and pals..and
running in to Gary Shacker was a bonus! See the Penninsula if you are
ever out there...its great...bring a tripod and lllots of film!
Stay tuned soon for my NSA details....and all I can say about NSA at
this point is....if I did not have to sleep...I could have used the two
to three hours of sleep a night that I barely got, to talk more with the
many people I never seem to have enought time with.
