Have you considered using the new old-stock Revere (44mm) or Wollensak
(47mm) achromats that DrT sells?

Meaning you realize you would need a pretty large lens to cover
5P if the FL is 35mm? (What diameter would be needed?)

By ET effect do you mean really long outstretched arms, or large
nose and ears? I think of the long arm and fingers problem as a
stretch problem; prominent nose and ears are normally associated
with a perspective problem (taking the picture too close to the
subject). 80 to 105mm camera lens for 35mm format is generally
considered best for producing pleasing portraits.

If you really mean a "portrait" you want to go to a longer lens
that will allow greater camera-to-subject distance while keeping
the image size reasonble. DrT posted something in May about the
good results he achieved taking a portrait of his daughter with
his twin Konicas and slight telephoto lenses (I forget the FL). I
saw a few of those shots and agree they were quite nice.

I wish I hadn't missed the convention. :(
