I was working with a prototype of this (15") display a while back
and have to say it's quite impressive.  I ported a quake walkthrough
program by Ed Hutchins to display on it.  It has a really nice feel
and is big enough now to lose oneself in.  I didn't see it mentioned
in the article, but one of the cool features of this display is that
the an active 3D region can be specified while the rest of the display
remains in 2D mode.  When I finished up there they were deciding on
what distribution of areas they would use.  Now I just have to get
the real 3D version of Quake to run on their display...

If you happen to be in Kobe, I think they're using one of these
displays in a 3D Kiosk at Kobe's Matrix shopping area in the 
western part of the city on the waterfront.
