Realist frame overlap

Wow, my first post to the new address!

Something ocurred to me that might be worth testing.
The frame overlap may occur when the focus is changed
after the film is advanced when the film is tightly
wound. The Realist (and Realist 45) focus by moving
the film plane rather than the lenses. With the film
wound tight it can only give on the catridge side when
it is focused, this would move the film toward the side
of the winding knob. If this is true then the overlap
could be reduced by focusing before advancing the film.

I'd test it out with my Realist 45 but it hasn't
shown any overlap yet. I hope it doesn't because
I'm planning to take it and my FED to Burning Man
and I sure don't want to have a disaster like
Dr T did.
