Grant proposes a work-around for the overlap problem:

Well, it is an interesting thought, Grant.  This brings to mind one
of the legions of advantages of the Realist:  the auto-infinity-focus
feature!  Users of inferior stereo cameras will have to remember to
*intentionally* set the focus to infinity.  ;) ;) ;) ;)
