Ken, good luck with your meteor pairs.  I attempted the same thing a
couple of years ago, with no success.  We had walkie talkies, but the
batteries went dead, and we could not communicate even at a distance of
1/4 mile.  I think something could be arranged with cell phones.

Alas, even with a synchronized plan like yours, as a contingency, there
was nothing we could do when the clouds rolled in.
