Hi Carole,

When we held the stereo card for the Oakland Camera Club's 2nd International competition judging
last January (including some nice entries from you), we had at least three stereoscopes of more-
or-less equal quality and each of three judges was assigned one. They then took one of four
stacks of randomly arranged cards and evaluated each of them individually with a score between
1-4 (we had a scorer assigned to each judge to record the score and move things along fairly
quickly).

Each judge then passed his/her stack to the next judge and took a stack they had not seen and
repeated the process until they had seen all of the cards. The scores were then totalled and a
cut-off point for acceptances was determined and all scores above a certain level were in
competition for the top spots. The judges then evaluated these cards as a group, discussing the
strengths and weaknesses of each. Ultimately they were able to identify the cards which would
place in each of the categories where we gave awards.

I hope this brief reply answers some of your questions. Please feel free to e-mail me directly
if you have more specific questions.
