I'd say that nobody really LIKES anaglyph (but I could be wrong!), it's
just that it's the cheapest way to get a 3D effect to the viewer using
existing technology (video, print, etc), being that it takes no
significant modification to the information delivery vehicle and the
glasses are cheap to produce...there's also the "benefit" that it
doesn't require any sophistication on the part of the viewer regarding
freeview vs cross-eyed, etc. (benefits of the more expensive polarization,
lcs, and so forth technology as well).
However, I *have* found it's much easier
now to explain to people what freeviewing is since the advent of the
SIRDS posters, etc. I just tell 'me to try to do the same thing on the
stereo pair as they do with the posters. As usual in the general population,
some can do it fairly easily, some find it impossible.
