I don't think it was the same problem, but a coworker of mine (he's not asian 
either) was telling me that he was unable to see in 3D due to a problem with 
his right eye.  He said that he adapted by interpreting things in different ways.  
For example, when driving, he could tell that cars were getting closer if their 
headlights were growing farther apart.  Pretty interesting...  Now, he has 
glasses that are able to correct the vision in his right eye, and he is constantly 
amazed at all this 3D he sees around him.  He'd never been able to see 3D 
movies/pictures/anything, and I've since shown him some of my stuff (in 
anaglyph...) and he can see it!  He's quite delighted about it too...
