Mounting Realist slides

I will soon be attempting to mount my own Realist slides for the first
time.  I have the roll of developed film, and cardboard heat seal mounts
from Reel 3D (or I should say UPS has them, and I hope to have them
soon!).  What key suggestions do people have?  I have a copy of the
printed mounting instructions from one of the web sites.  What can I use
for a light table without having to invest a lot of money now?  Can I
use a standard iron?
