Polaroid stereo ? / 3D Books / Stereoly

Hi all,

Don't know if somebody else on P3D noticed:
http://www.shutterbug.net/1997prod.htm,
Product News, February 1997, page 2, lists a
Passport/ID Camera with a thumbnail
picture. It looks strikingly like a stereo
camera. It's used for producing passport (2x2")
or ID-size (1x1 1/4") instant color photo's
to put on (laminated) ID cards.
Camera is made under a Polaroid approved OEM
program by the New Jersey Photo Sales Association.

Wonder if a conversion to 'real' stereo is
possible. Sam, are you there ? Or have you
still not found that DIY guy with a soldering
iron in his hands, sitting in his garage corner,
doing nothing (yet) ?

Found the book : Stereo Views; An Illustrated
History and Price Guide by John Waldsmith on
the Amazon Booksite.
Although I found some references in the digests,
I wonder if one of you fellow P3D'ers can tell
me if it is worth the $18.36 they're asking.
You can find some other 3D related stuff there :

- Aerial Stereo: Photographs, Harold Wanless.
- Stereo Atlas of Glaucoma, David Campbell et al.
- Stereo Book of Contours, McMann.
- How to Make a Polaroid Stereo Camera.
This one is out of print, but the Amazon guys
state that they 'may be able to find you a used
  copy within 2-6 months'.
  Anybody know this 'weirdo' ?

Point your browser to : http://www.amazon.com

Another (maybe) interesting one is :
http://www.books.com (Book Stacks)
Have a look at :
Day of Reckoning : The Stereoscope (Blackstone
Chronicles, Part 5) in the category 'Fiction'

Both sides have a good search engine.
Try '3D' or 'stereo'. On the latter you will
find a lot of audio stuff, but what the heck 8<)

Any comments are welcome.

Another question : Couple of years ago I bought
a Leitz Stereoly stereo attachment (prisms, no
mirrors) for use on a IIIc amongst others, with
dedicated finder, in leather case.
Only reference I could find, was in Digest #1068,
#1109 and #2085.

Wonder if there is someone out there who
actually have used this one. Not me, I've no
Leica camera, whatsoever.

- Any experience ?
- Results ?
- Current value ?
- Better/worse than a Pentax / Loreo / ??
