>Unless you're selling a $2 bottle of shampoo or $5 pet rock, you'd
better be giving the purchaser of a substantial product (such as a
camera) something that really performs by his or her own performance
criteria and doing so with real value, or history shows overwhelmingly
you will loose big time.

Your comments about the need to give a purchaser a "substantial product" =
is
true, I believe, even of your $5 pet rocks, and other "fad" items. I know=

it's fashionable to look down our noses at those inferior life forms who
buy fad items like pet rocks or hula hoops. But these, too, fill a need f=
or
whimsy or light-heartedness in many, many people. Not all fad items
succeed, and the ones that do succeed do so because they give the buyer a=

"substantial product"--whimsy is very substantial in an increasingly
alienating world. And lest we forget, just about anything 3D is a fad ite=
m,
and most writers who report on fads include anyone interested in 3D as a
part of that group of idiotic, half-witted, easily-led fools who buy pet
rocks and hula hoops.
