Oh!  I completely misunderstood what George had said.  Thanks
for setting me straight.

I had thought they used solid pieces of cardboard as slides
(mock slides) so they could go through the motions and teach
people how to run the projector (and time each person's speed
for the competition part of it)!

Silly me!
