Cleveland Meeting Part 2

Dr. T presents " Stereo Imaging in science and technology". A gentle
request " lights please" brought the room silent, a person got up and
sat immediately down....."you missed the switch" I thought as the lights
gradually dimmed to a theatre like ambiance and then total
darkness.....no accident again as Dr.T must have approached his
superiors at LTV Steel Co. to justify the expense of such an elaborate
dimming system to further his work, and gain a competitive edge in the
industry,=A0as I see it. As the bright light reflected from the screen
into the room, in an all familiar way everyone sported the
glasses......except me. I was=A0caught up in an entertaining thought of
what it must have been like to witness the nuclear bomb testings back in
the 50's. The bright light, the glasses....
the oohhs and aaaahhs. Oh, here's the first image...it looks terrible!
Blurry out of focus,Dr.T working hard to get the focus right. " do you
need a pair of glasses?" the guy next to me asks. " Oh here they are" I
reply as I pretend to pick them up from under my seat. I put the glasses
on and I was blown away! " I must have got the X-ray ones instead" I
remarked as the lady in front of me shook her head in disgust. Well,
that's # 2 ! Dr. T flawlessly changed slides and spoke in perfect
synchronous, similar I imagine to walking and chewing gum at the same
time although I never tried that. ( walking and chewing gum that is ) I
was impressed! It was an excellent presentation. One image in particular
stands out in my mind....George used his Realist to capture a shot of
molten steel splashing and coming right towards him........I guess Dr. T
uses Realists as disposables! Or he shielded the camera with his
body...either way a strong testament to his dedication! The
" mock" slide competition next....
