There are no polarized lenses in the FED projector, but a couple of low
quality polarizing filters mounted in the filter holder at the slide tray.
The quality of these filters and of the FED polarized glasses are so low,
that you have to change them to get an acceptable projection.
The orientation of the FED polarization is the old german standard, that
is vertical and horizontal, where the new standard is 45 and 135 degrees.
You can not turn the FED filters, but have to buy new filters, and as the
quality of the FED filters is low, you will find it a big improvement with
new filters. This goes for the glasses too.
New filters can be obtained at Reel 3D, Culver City, and they are of good
quality. Be careful when you cut the filters to fit in the holes of the
filter
holder, and the glasses. A few degrees error is enough to give ghosting.
And remember to lubricate the fan with an acidfree oil.
It's hot in there, and the oil does evaporate.
I should mention, that I am pleased with my modified FED, apart from the
fan noise. It sounds like a not to far away highway with heavy traffic ;-)
