No tape heat-seal mounting

I don't use any tape in my heat seal mounting process. Here's what I do:

    1. I use a lighted film cutter to get nice square cuts. It also helps
when the frame edges are dark and hard to see. I've also been using
a head mounted magnifier to see the process better, although I
suppose reading glasses would also work.

    2. I smooth down the outside set of positioning tabs in the mount because
it seems like the film chip won't completely flatten out if I leave
        them up.

    3. Using a fairly large pair of round point tweezers, I position the film
chip against the inside stops. The right and left chips usually are
positioned against different vertical stops because both cameras I
use seem to have a bit of vertical mis-alignment.

    4. Holding the film chip in place with the tweezers, I close the mount
over the film chip, holding it in place with the mount and withdrawing
the tweezers as I do this.

    5. I then use a small binder clip to hold the mount closed.

    6. Do the other side.

    7. I check the alignment under an old army map stereoscope and if anything
needs fixing, I go through the process again.

    8. If everything is in alignment, I seal the mount using a Seary 2x2 heat
sealer that seals the three sides of the mount except the hinged side.
It doesn't seem to hurt that the hinged side isn't heated. I usually
tack seal the end of the mount before carefully sliding the mount
fully into the mounter to do the complete seal.

    9. As a last step, I use a Red-Button viewer to double check the slide.

If the mount is always held closed by your fingers, a binder clip, or one
tacked edge, the slide shouldn't slip during this process.
