Actually it's been done already! I mentioned this a few months ago.
I replaced the lenses with some achromatic lenses that Dr.T sells
and it was a big improvement. The lenses from the 3Discover snap
right out and the achromats fit in from the cassette side. :-)
Surprisingly the field of view is pretty similiar with both types
of lenses.
