Yes, I've had one defective cassette out of three (ordered from Wolfgang
Sell, who promptly replaced it), and a number of people have posted similar
problems.

I've always thought the motorized advance mechanism was a mistake.  Too
much that can go wrong with it.  I predict that a few years from now
Themelized 3Discover viewers with Revere achromatic lenses will sell for
upwards of $100....   :-)
