With regards to digital 3D cameras giving the photographer increased
opportunities to take more pictures, there are other limititations as
well. The memory card filling up and needing to be changed or dumped
to computer is one good reason, especially since those memory cards
are not cheap. Another potentially limiting factor is the battery! I
don't know about most other digital cameras but the one I tried was
a battery guzzler. It took 4 high capacity ni-cads and regular ni-cads
or alkaline batterys could barely run it. It seemed to me that the
batteries ran out much faster than on my videocamera.
When I took it out on the field I was more worried about running out
of power than filling up the 30 picture memory space. Oh well I put
my faith in science and hopefully when they can make economical
electric cars, the battery technology can be used for those
unsuspecting power hungry digital cameras.
Strangley enough with my twin P&S film camera, it takes 2 alkaline
batteries for each camera (4 total) and those last for at least 20
rolls of film. Of course 50's 3D cameras don't need any batteries.
I see a trend here. As picture capturing technology advances so
does battery consumption!
P.S. For Ole Hansen query last week about where I would show some
examples of some 3D pics that I took with the digital camera, that
would be on my web space on the net.
