|What's this digital vs film discussion all about anyway? Is digital
|going to advance the art of photography? Oops, I said "art"....what does
|technology have to do with art ? In my opinion,
|NOTHING! After all, look at some of the greatest technological advances
|of our era. Popeil's "vac-suck" machine, a better haircut than the
|barber? ( if you have no hair....spray paint by Popeil is the answer) A
|drum machine,
|why not keep the band payroll down. Besides
|the machine will never break a stick or miss a beat. Why read a good
|book, buy the book on CD and let Wilford Brimley read it to you. Why use
|paint anymore, print your art from a computer? I believe art preceeds
|technology and some things are better left "to craft". I realize the
|tremendous science involved behind photography........but it is the
|"art" of photography not the "science" of photography
|that has lured the interest of many 3-D enthusiasts in my opinion. I
|enjoy the balance of both, however I detest the attempts of tech.
|companies to redefine art by pushing the merits of technology and
|offering the "better mousetrap". Film is as good as it gets folks!! If
|you enjoy the artistry of your craft, the results far outweigh the
|inconveniences. If digital methods cannot exceed film resolution.....I'm
|not interested in hours of convenience, nor are all of you, as
|demonstrated by the time consumed by postings on this list. :-) Sure I
|realize the commercial advantages to digital, but don't use " digital"
|and "art" in the same sentence! (oops...I just did) MARK DOTTLE
