I'm curious what you mean by restrictions on subject matter?
You can photograph God in 2D but not in 3D? ;-)
Yes I use 2D when it's convenient and I don't necessarily want 3D, but I
still far and away prefer 3D whenever it's possible or desirable, which is
quite often.
