At the Sunday 9-14-97 Photorama show in Cleveland, there was a dealer
who had a Triad for sale. My memory was that the Triad's carrier had
openings that were only 5P wide but Mike's comments made me wonder if I
had missed something when I owned a Triad for about one week. With the
dealer's permission, I carefully marked an index card the width of the
aperature opening. At home I placed a 5P chip within the lines I had
marked and found that it fit with a little clearance, hence the opening
measured about 5 1/2 P. I then used a longer piece of film, again
finding that the measurement of the opening was definitely less than 6P.

With an opening less than 6 perforations, it is difficult to understand
how a Triad unmodified carrier can project 7P and almost 8P. Perhaps
Mike would be so kind as to recheck his Triad carrier using developed
and flat film to see if it measures at least 7P and post the results.

Could Compco have used more than one slide opening for the Triad
projector? Perhaps other owners of Triads could check the width of the
opening in their stereo slide carrier and report their findings. (I
included the word "stereo" as the Triad also came with a 2x2 carrier for
2d slides and of course they are 8P). As I suspect that there are just
not that many Triad owners in the approximately 200(?) active posters,
there shouldn't be an overwelming deluge of postings. If anyone finds
an opening greater than 5P, please comment as to whether there is
evidence of modification to the carrier after it left
Compco.
