|the filmstrip out is that i have quite a few slides in self-adhesive 
|card mounts :-(

I've scanned Realist slides in a Scanmaker 35t as well. What I did was
to stick one end in (vertically), scan that image, stick the other end
in, scan that one, then rotate them in Photoshop to the proper orientation.

It's a slow process, though...
