Well, as a former Philadelphian, I can always recommend our Clothespin
(actually, Claes Oldenburg's "Clothespin"), right opposite City Hall in the
center of town ("Center City," we call it). It's about 4 stories tall, and
the surrounding buildings make a decent background. City Hall itself is
fairly interesting; not one of these modern buildings with flat,
uninteresting architecture. And the plaza at the Municipal Services Building,
also across from City Hall, has some weird sculptures, like giant dominoes,
and a very lumpy statue that everybody hated when it was first erected. And
then there's the Liberty Bell not far from there, and Independence Hall at
6th and Chestnut, also close by. There's a restaurant made from an old
clipper ship docked on the Delaware River. And there's always plenty of old
buildings that might be cool.
