Why do people want to scan stereo slides?

I imagine one of the chief reasons is to place them on web pages. There a=

also the opportunities computers offer to manipulate images, creating
enhanced versions of the slides or using them in entirely new kinds of
imagery. Such manipulated images can either be viewed in a variety of way=
s
on computer, or printed to paper or film. I know some people who use the
new Epson color printers to produce printed images for viewing by ViewMag=
ic
viewers, or in Holmes viewers. Higher resolution images can even be
re-output to slides after digital manipulation.
