That's true if by 3D you mean "left and right views". Any 2D image can be
made into identical right and left views, plus you can have an even greater
range of effects by using completely unrelated left and right views (blue
squares in the left view and green triangles in the right view). Such
image pairs might be "nonsensical", but they do extend the range of human
experience beyond what is possible with single 2D images.

Specifying that the 3D images enable stereopsis introduces a considerable
constraint. There are things you can do in 2D that you can't do in
*stereoscopic* 3D.
