It projects Viewmaster reels (you know the 3~4 inch round things with the
small-ish images around the edge).

If it's in working order then he's wrong.  :-)  It's used to look at
viewmaster reels (in stereo), and one can get viewmaster cameras fairly 
inexpensively (but thing that "punches out" the images from the raw film 
tends to be a  bit spendy when you can find one).

That price is "typical" for the ones I've seen offered for sale.  If
that price is in Canadian dollars, then it's a pretty good price!

Assuming it indeed is in good working order.
