*****  Don't be too upset with yourself if it doesn't clean up the way you'd
like. I suggested a method to attempt, but it's success depends on so many
factors and photographic images are pretty complex things. It's worth trying
for the learning experience and there's always the chance you'll figure out
the right amount of feathering or correction. Or, the other colors in the
space will be too distorted to really get it to blend well after the
correction is applied. Some image software offers a wide variety of color
correction procedures and even preview boxes to test each effect before
applying it. This is a great image to experiment on. The only real ideal
solution is to take another vacation and shoot it again! :-)

*****  Maybe the operative word here should be *more of* instead of *most*.
The goal is to find the right combination of surroundings and relative scale
for the deer to be more effective. It's possible that taking it to the point
of the deer being most of the image, might be too much. When you're back at
the scanner, it's simple enough to run a couple of test scans and choose
whatever seems best to you. Some of that surrounding material is good for
the image. Good luck.
