One quick reason is that some companies will print realist slides for
example, as a pair on one sheet of print paper, and I have seen these
mounted as is into a stereo card mount with no cropping and aligning.
You can end up with a "pretty" stereo card, but the window might be all
out of whack.
I guess it comes down to the fact that they can be used well, but it is
easier to put out a bad product with them. IMHO. =)
