  I thought about this angle as well.
Here's an attempt at an analogy.  Have someone fill your bathtub
with jelly beans, and ask them to mix in a small percentage of M&Ms
also.  When he is done, take a look at your bathtub and estimate
how many M&Ms your friend put in.  Then have your friend hand you
a small tea cup full of M&Ms.  Estimate the number of M&Ms he gave
you.  Either way, there are not many M&Ms compared to the number
of jelly beans, but it's a lot easier to recognize/appreciate the
presence of them when they are together in the teacup.  They may
go almost completely unobserved when just mixed in with the jelly
beans.

Just a thought.  Other feedback out there?
