I think it will be great if Kodalux gets a lot of feedback from
individual customers, and hopefully does something about the recent
quality problems. I think, though, that bombarding them with a large
number of orders all at once might be counterproductive, in terms of
stress on an appparently already overworked department or person
(judging from the time that it takes for them to get to the incoming
orders now.) Or perhaps they have so few orders that they "batch" orders
and find anyone who is not busy at the moment, with little or no
training in stereo, to take care of the stereo mounting. I do think it
would be helpful to have Dalia or Paul or someone else on P3D be a
spokesperson/contact person and report back to the list as well, if they
can find out what is going on and whether any steps will be taken to
improve things. I realize that Kodak will never offer "precision"
mounting, but it is reasonable to expect correctly paired slides in the
correct orientation to be returned in the mounts, in alignment good
enough for a viewer. I would prefer to wait less than 3-4 weeks, but the
quality issue is more important.
Please call or write to Kodalux (Kodak Premium Processing, 3131
Manor Way, Dallas, TX 75235, 800-365-5589 in Dallas, or 800-242-2424 in
Rochester) and express your concerns.
I would love to hear about other mounting service options as
well. -Linda
