Twinned Minox Point and Shoot

When I was on vacation last week taking pictures with my TDC colorist II
of Bryce Canyon in Utah I ran into a German tourist who was taking
pictures with what appeared to be a large (compared to a Realist) stereo
camera.  When I asked him about it, he took off the case and there
appeared a twinned set of 'point and shoot' Minox cameras connected by
four pins.  The finish was excellant (It looked like it was almost a
production model).

Has anyone seen a camera like this?  The tourist seemed to indicate that
the camera was not uncommon in Europe (however, my German has greatly
deteriorated since High School so I may have misunderstood him).
