Nimslo Shutter Problem

 I have a Nimslo that displays the following 
characteristics:

1. Shutters open on the downclick, and stay open
    untill the trigger is released.
2. Shutters are dead with no batteries inserted

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem
 might be?

While I am here, If I get the films for the Nimslo developed
 normally (not cut or printed).  Can I then study the 
negatives before deciding which ones to get printed or is
the hole process bespoke?
