  Designing a reduced height 5 perf EMDE or Albion mount
means a new die anyways. So, eliminating the channels and
just making a flat mount or mask (better term) should
mean a cheaper die. That was the point I was trying to make.

  It's the best common material to use (nit pick).
Aluminum is quite reflective in the visible light range
but poor in the thermal IR, so it warms up more than
other shiny materials would (say stainless steel or
brass). Talk about expensive tools to make a die to
punch stainless :)

[The above if from my memory of the discussion that
occurred when George was putting thermal probes in
projectors. Reality may vary :) ]
