'Scent of Mystery' (1960)
AKA 'Holiday in Spain'
This film was shown (at least in New York City) as a "Smell-o-Vision''
movie. The theatre was equipped with a system that gave off various
odours in synch with the film. The opening scene involved a butterfly
flitting through a peach grove, with accompanying delicious odours. Later
on, a barrel of wine fell off a cart going up a hill, and rolled down the street
only to smash at the bottom, again to the accompanying odour. (From the
Internet Movie Database)
Then, of course, there was "AromaRama", which circulated through the
ventilation system. It was used for a documentary called 'Behind the Great
Wall', which came with "Oriental scents."
Boy! Think of it, 3-D and Smell-O-Vision. Wow! That sure proves the old
adage, "If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried."
