End of Trilogy (creativity vs. determination)

Let me close the trilogy with a few words of wisdom regarding competitions
and the art of photography. Many people think that good photography
requires a talent, creativity, "an eye" (two for stereo) for pictures and
composition, etc., etc., etc. Some people (a few photo-3d examples come in
mind) have declared that they are rather technically-minded and do not have
the artistic stuff that good photographers do.

I say, nsense Good photography requires HARD WORK. Yes, that's right!
HARD WORK and more HARD WORK!

A person of average intelligence can pick up the technical and artistic
stuff pretty quickly by reading books, taking classes, studying successful
photographs, pieces of art, etc. The average person already has the
minimum creativity and talent required to be a good photographer. What
differentiates those who do well from those who don't is the amount of work
that each one decides to put into it. The person who is determined to do
well and is willing to work hard to achieve this, there is no question in
my mind that will do well.

Most people don't care. But those who do care and do not achieve this goal
are, IMO, plain old simple TOO BUSY or TOO LAZY.

I admit that, like most people, I am LAZY, i.e. will do the minimum amount
of work to get me where I want to go (You will agree with me that this
human characteristic is responsible for our technological miracles
today...) Until recently, my minimum amount of work was enough for
Detroit. This year it is not. But now I am TOO BUSY to do it! How many
"Bridges" have I visited? One. How many "Sky Things"? Zero. End of
case.

I am not going to admit that I have less talent or less creativity than
Dennis Hanser. But it is clear to me that I have less TIME and less
DETERMINATION!

So, please, don't claim lack of talent for below-average performance.
Talent is not the key here. Determination, time and amount of hard work is
the answer.

Thank you and sorry for taking so much of your busy schedule!

George Themelis
