No one has mentioned the new Sony digital cameras with a built-in PC compatable
3.5 floppy disk. It appears there is only enough memory to hold one picture
until it is transferred to disk. Disappointingly, the camera is only 640x480,
but it could be much higher resolution without much extra cost, except for a
pocketfull of disks. I would not mind 1 picture per disk, if I could get
acceptable resolution. The pictures are recorded on the disk in JPG format, so
you can just pop the disk into the computer and look at or play with them. They
have a choice of 2 degrees of compression, which results in about 20 or 40
pictures per disk. They should have given another choice of less compression,
with fewer pictures for higher quality.

In the near future, it shouldn't be a problem to put a ZIP disk in a camera, and
record non-compressed pictures at 1024x768 or higher. I'm just waiting for the
competition to take Sony's idea and run with it!

More information on Sony's web pages.
