Stereo software

Hi folks,
It seems the stereo image editing software I've been talking about has
finally been released and is available from the website for SOFTreat. The
URL is:
http://members.aol.com/threedr/
My activities in association with this software included providing feedback
about the way the program worked and what additional features it needed,
though the program's author, Dave Harvey, was already well onto the right
track!. I'm pleased with the overall results and I'm sure many of you will
find it to be very useful too.
It's designed to make the job of creating one or many stereo files from a
stereo pair easy and enjoyable. It's comprehensive enough to allow you to
work with stereo pairs in just about any method you already know and enjoy
(there are multiple methods built-in for most features). It's designed to
complement the typical image editing functions in your existing photo-image
software. It doesn't require freeviewing, but as always with stereo images,
since that can be very helpful to those with the skill, it supports
freeviewing by whichever method you might know, including using devices
similar to the Freeviewer's Assistant. Along with freeviewing, it supports
anaglyphic, interlaced and page flipping stereo viewing too. Of course it
creates JPS files as one of it's many output file types.
It's not a plug-in for browsers, but I found that if I set up the options in
Netscape to point to the 3DSIF program file for images of the file type
*image/x-jps*, it opens the program and loads the JPS images very easily.
This makes it convenient for web browsing and even lets you edit an image
before saving it, if you wanted to do so.
My biggest contribution was writing the help files. They are intended for
both the stereoscopic beginner and the experienced. There should be
something of interest regardless of your background. The help files are much
larger than the program itself! I'm still working on final revisions to the
text and content of the help files, so if any of you find an error, or
something important that I left out, let me know about it and I will make
corrections. You can read the help files on-line at the same website, but
here's the direct URL for your convenience.
http://members.aol.com/threedr/helphtml/index.htm/3dsi0002.htm#Online help
I noticed that the space in the last part of the URL causes Netscape and
other email programs that provide hot links to leave out the last word. It
still gets you to the help files.
Any feedback will be appreciated. I hope all of you take the opportunity to
try out the program.
Thanks,
Larry Berlin
