==============================================

Warren Callahan, one of the legends in the world of stereoscopy, died on
the morning of October 21, 1997, from brain cancer. He is survived by two
sisters and his intimate friend of 27 years, Caryl Chaplin (415 - 18th NW,
Puyallup, WA 98371).

Born June 1, 1930, in Chelsea MA, Warren migrated West, for the excellent
skiing conditions!. At the hospice care center where Warren died, Caryl
and I spent time looking through albums of old photos. There were shots of
Warren, both poles planted, his skiis 90 degrees and perfectly parallel,
doing mid air turns. He remained an avid outdoorsman all his life, hiking
and kayaking. He and Caryl took many kayak voyages throughout the waters
of the Northwest. He was a staunch environmentalist. He retired from the
newspaper industry, having worked as a typesetter, and became a full time
stereo photographer. He probably inspired more people to begin shooting 3D
than anyone I know. He inspired me. You could always find Warren and Caryl
with an exhibition booth at the big local camera shows demonstrating the
wonder of stereoscopy.

His ashes will be scattered on the waters of the Pacific Coast. There will
be no funeral or memorial service, as per Warren's wishes.

For those wishing to make memorials, the following were organizations
people might consider sending a donation to, though Warren said any
organization that someone felt close to would be just as good:

Associated Health Services-Hospice
c/o Multicare Health Foundation
PO Box 5296
Tacoma, WA 98415-0296

Puget Sound Stereo Camera Club
Gordon Nelson, Treasurer
1909 NE Naomi Place
Seattle, WA 98115

Or, NSA, ISU, PSA, or any Environmental Organization

Those of us luck enough to have known Warren personally will hold him in
memory all our lives. He was a unique, inspiring man. He had a good life.
