Separations
Just got in and have to go to class but did manage to read David
Lee's comments about stereo separations in Digest 2380. I have the
Jasper bar (which someone mentioned is wonderful--and probably better
than most would make at home). Everyone probably knows (I didn't)
that the bar has three "notches" for lens separations. Mostly, I use
the normal outside ones for the famous 65 mm separations.
But--when I fire up my Nikon and macro lens, I do use the closer
separations. However, like David, I usually use at least the closest
pair and then the middle pair when I get real close. If I am a foot
or two away, I use all three. Then, when I look at the pairs I got,
I chose the pair I like the most and that is what I mount for
projection.
As a professional once told me (years ago when in college), film is
cheap. Sho0ot a roll to get the one picture you want. The same fits
for stereo.
