3D in 16mm

>I recently got a professional quality 16mm movie camera and I recall
some discussion about the attachemts for making stereo movies. I have
read about them in an old 50's vintage book I had borrowed about a year
ago, but was not that interested at the time. Does anyone have one of
these? I would be very interested in communicating with someone who has
experience with one.<

You're probably referring to the system Bolex sold for use with their 16m=
m
camera. There are some systems floating around, but they are quite limite=
d
since they only work with the Bolex camera, and only with certain models =
of
that. The projector lens is also a problem today since it has a very narr=
ow
barrel by modern standards. It only works on fairly antique projectors.
Finally, the system uses what is sometimes called a "doorframe" format in=

which the frame is split vertically, giving you an image that is taller
than it is wide, which looked a little funny then and even weirder now,
when we are used to movie frames that are quite a bit wider than they are=

tall. In short (if that is still possible), I think the Bolex system is
(and always was) more of a novelty than a serious 3D system.
