Holmes-Bates Viewers

I thought I'd put my two bits in, regarding viewers for regular-size stereo
cards. My preferred viewer is a cheap, folding, black painted metal viewer
that goes by several names, the most common being 'Peeps through Many Lands'
viewer. One has to hold the card in one hand, and the viewer in the other.
The viewer was designed for a smaller format, so a bit of 'eye-work' is
needed. After the eye muscles get used to it, it is well worth the trouble.
The image is noticably larger than what is seen through a regular
Holmes-Bates, and noticably more detail is seen. There are two drawbacks; if
the card being viewed has a wide distance between the subject, it can be
impossible to 'bring it in.' Also, on cards that have less than sharp
images, the grain is seen.. Otherwise, it is my favorite viewer, and the
cost is modest, they usually sell for between $25 and $50 in my experience.
