Re magnification, it's kind of interesting; horizontal and vertical
magnifications of one image both have perceptual consequences, but they go
in opposite directions & roughly cancel. So even if the differential
magnification is perceptible when the two images are viewed separately,
when fused it shouldn't matter (provided the images can still be fused, of
course).
